      Latin Poetry in Verse Translation is a collection of essential Roman-Italian and Catholic poetry. It is essential poetry, but not an essential collection. The collection contains a wide range of beautiful poems in excellent translations. I especially like the poems where they provide several different translations.       This is a wonderful book! A little something for everyone, from love to war poems. It gives great, brief descriptions of poets life before their section and has an interesting intro.

      A hit-and-miss hodgepodge of poetry at varying levels of translation (a lot of it really freaking poor). The lack of the Latin originals is a real drawback.
