Warning this is a Bittersweet Dreams title, so there will be no HEA.Callum picks up a stranger, Danny, on his way to his mother's house at Terra's Gate. Danny is heading to St. Louis and since he is dropped by a trucker in the middle of the desert, he begs Callum to let him go with him, and he will pay the gas. After a thought (and since he thinks Danny is attractive and it will be nice to have a friend during the rest of his trip), Callum says yes. The two bonded and something more happens as [...]

3.5 Stars!I'm a tad disappointed in this one and it has nothing to do with the fact that it doesn't have an HEA. (Bittersweet Storiesah, I kinda figured as much.) No my disappointment is in the lack of armpit play! All this build up to his muskiness and sorry if I smell and taking quick little peaks when he has his arms stretched out. and all we get is one quick snippet, :crushed:I seen that there is another little story (about 20 pages or so) from the POV of Danny. I'll eventually read it.

Next time I will take the time to read reviews before I purchase a bookt, idiot!!! (that's me by the way). There is not happy ending here, Gosh this story for me was depressing, and I don't even going to mention the end :(

In a way, this story was a road movie where Callum and Dan got to know each other over the course of the three days they spend together. This happens in a way which is very fitting their characterizations. We’re in Callum’s head throughout the story, and so he is the best-drawn character. I Callum is a victim of emotional (and most probably, also sexual) abuse from his partner David, and I found this portrayed in a heartbreakingly realistic way. It was beautiful to watch how he came to take [...]

Desert Crossing starts at an inconspicuous fuel station in the middle of nowhere, literally. Set in the desert, B.G. writes really descriptive images, and I almost found myself closing my eyes feeling perspiration forming on my brow as the golden glow of the desert (really, the afternoon sun on my front window) enveloped me. This sense of actually being there set the foundation for the story before I even got to know each of the main characters.Callum struck me as an average Joe, albeit a brave [...]

Reviewed on Hearts On Fire heartsonfirereviews/ This was a beautiful story of change and rediscovery. Callum is a man that has been used and verbally abused by his partner David. His mother asks him to visit for her birthday and he is making the drive from San Francisco to just outside of St. Louis alone. David would rather stay home and play with his tricks enjoying their open relationship. Callum stops in the middle of the desert for gas and meets Danny who needs a ride. Callum takes pity on t [...]

3.5 starsThis was an intriguing short story - I liked the direction but I would have loved to have more of an resolution I have read the short sequel, but it only progresses the story a little.

This is a cute short story that puts a new spin on the road trip. Callum is in an emotionally abusive relationship with a man named David. David constantly puts him down blames Callum for his cheating on him because Callum doesn't meet his physical standards and is boring. Callum decides to hit the road without David to go to his hometown for his mother's birthday. Whike gasing up he meets Dan , who needs a lift and will gladly help with gas etc for a ride. Callum is hesitant for a moment, but r [...]

Desert Crossing is a long short story, I guess? I don't think it's long enough to count as a novella. I enjoyed it, though I do feel it had enough of a kernel to it to warrant a longer story. I'm sure there was enough potential there to warrant a novella - something of the ilk of Trust Me. There is a part of me that is curious to know whether the two protagonists meet again and what their futures hold? However, it's good, escapist reading and I recommend it. I will definitely be reading some mor [...]

I liked the story, after I thought about it for a while. I really thought it needed a better ending. At some point, I would like some closure. I'd really want to know if they (Collum and Dan) ever really got together. I'd like Collum to go back home to SFO and kick his cheating lover David to the curb, big time. Then to have the phone ring's Dan, he's in SFO, asking if he can at least see Collum. I'm such a sucker for HEA as opposed to HFN.

This is a bittersweet story which means there really isn't an HEA, but it was sweet and romantic all the same. It's worth the read although I would love it since there was no HEA we could have seen a little further in to the lives of these guys. Really it felt almost like the beginning of a great book.

What I really like about this author's writing is that it feels really authentic. I picked this up after reading How Could Love Be Wrong from the DSP Daily Dose collection. Excellent story dealing with facing a crossroads in life. Well done.

For once this short novella was really, TO short!! It was kind of tragic and sweet at the same time. Damn, I would really love to read more about this couple, both characters were truly interesting. I'm voting for a sequel!!!
